Could you read when you were one year old? Certainly not. At that age you were just learning to say your first word. You could respond to simple commands like ” Sit”. ” Stand” or “Come here”. But you could not yet give any meaning to a written word.

Children’s mental abilities change as they grow. At age two, they can point to common objects. Asks a two-year-old to point to his nose, eyes, ears. Can he or she do this? Call the child’s name,Does he or she respond?

At age of three, most children can match shapes. They can name some colors. Some can count from one to ten. Others can recognize some letters of the alphabet.

Four-year-old children can speak well. They can understand and follow simple directions such as “Come here” and ” Get the ball”. They can also ask questions that begin with “why”, “how” and “When”. They can make up stories using their toys.

Some children start to go to school when they are five years old or even younger. In school. their mental abilities are further developed.

They learn to read.

They learn to write

They learn to draw.

They learn to solve math problems.
